General features of Jiaji Human Biobank:
To date, we have around 1500 patients’ specimens. Types of cases accepted include urinary tract diseases (urinary tract stones and tumors), colorectal tumors, thyroid tumors, lung cancers, and breast cancers. Whole blood, urine, serum, thyroid pellet, fresh tissues and formalin-fixed paraffin blocks are stored for application by researchers. And the pathology department assists the fresh specimen collection. After the pathologists collect the specimens for pathological diagnoses, they will further take tumor and non-tumor tissues for biobank. To evaluate the accuracy of specimens, tumor proportion will be evaluated by pathologists with frozen sections and paraffin block sections under hematoxylin and eosin stain. Appropriate quality assurance tests for DNA quality are also routinely performed annually.
