NATIONAL BIOBANK CONSORTIUM OF TAIWAN

Eligibility: Applicants that may apply for specimen or database information to NBCT are limited to researchers and attending physicians of domestic public and private biomedical research institutes or hospitals. Domestic legally established companies with biological science research experience are also eligible. All applicants should also give documents that can verify their qualifications at the time of application.

Please state the name of the tumor （disease） for which you are applying, the number of cases, and the type and number of specimens requested. For example: apply for 50 cases of liver cancer, and the content of the specimen to be applied for is
（1）    Paired tumor and non-tumor tissue DNA 5ug per case
（2）    Unstained paraffin sections 5 slides per case
（3）    Serum 100ul per case

The application form can be written in either Chinese or English. If written in English, please include a summary of the research project in Chinese. This will help the non-biomedical members of the ethics committee to understand the content of the project.

As long as the research project funds come from academic institutions, government units, or medical institutions, academic fees can be used.
If the research project funding comes from the industry, such as industry-university cooperation projects or the industry’s own research projects, the fees are based on industry fees.
 

All specimens in the human biological database have clinical data, divided into basic clinical data and follow-up data. Please refer to the processing fee for the charging content. For common disease data fields, please go to 〔Data Information〕 for inquiries.

All those who apply for specimens or data from the NBCT must submit a research plan stating which research to do. Therefore, they all need to comply with the human body research laws and regulations, and must apply for IRB approval. All applications for specimens or data from the legal biobank database are within the scope of simplified review.

The application for the specimens or data of the NBCT can be carried out at the same time as the application for IRB approval. To speed up the time to complete the review. Please note that the names of the two research projects need to be the same, and the project host must be the same person.

You can apply for an IRB at the same time when you submit an application. IRB can apply to the ethics committee of each medical research institution. The website of the IRB agency review service agency is also available on the website:

The IRB review service is provided to the industry when there is no ethics committee. It can apply to the Medical Research Ethics Committee of the National Health Research Institutes, the research ethics committee of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the research ethics committee  of the Development Center  for Biotechnology

1.The project name of the IRB must be the same as the name of the project in the application. The project host of the IRB and the project host in the application must also be the same person. If it is an industrial application, the applicant must be the supervisor above level.
     
2.If the IRB approval has not been received when the application is submitted, it can be replaced with a certificate of submission for review temporarily, and the IRB approval document must be submitted before the specimens can be released from the library at the latest.
