Tungs’ Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital has the need of the patients in mind and providing the best medical care quality as its faith.
In accordance with the “Regulations on the Management of Human Biobank," Tungs’ Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital Biobank was approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on September 30, 2020 to establish. The purpose of the biobank is to provide reliable biological samples and information for medical research.
We collect a variety of research-valuable samples, currently with a focus on urological and otolaryngological cancer samples. Samples from departments such as obstetrics, gynecology, gastroenterology and other departments are also being collected. Collected samples include tissues and blood (serum, plasma, and Buffy Coat), which are stored in liquid nitrogen storage systems and -80°C ultra-low temperature freezers, both equipped with surveillance cameras and remote dial-up alarm systems. Consent forms and coded information are stored in a physically isolated room with access control and in a computer that is not connected to the internet.
