Tungs' Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital is dedicated to providing the highest quality medical care to meet patients' needs. The hospital's Human Biobank, approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on September 30, 2020, under the Human Biobank Management Act, aims to provide reliable biological specimens and information for medical research.
The biobank collects various research-worthy specimens, mainly focusing on urology and ENT cancer specimens, as well as specimens from gynecology, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal surgery, etc. Collected specimens include tissues and blood (serum, plasma, and Buffy Coat), stored in liquid nitrogen storage systems and -80°C ultra-low temperature freezers with surveillance and remote alarm systems. Consent forms and coded data are stored in secure, isolated physical rooms and offline computers to ensure participant privacy and data security.
