Event Overview:
On February 22, 2024, President Huey-Kang Sytwu of NHRI, accompanied by NBCT CEO Shiu-Feng Huang and Deputy CEO Yi-Hsin Yang, visited Chi Mei Medical Center to present the Grade A award and gifts in recognition of the hospital's outstanding performance in the National BioBank Consortium of Taiwan Institution Evaluation.
Chi Mei Medical Center's Human Biobank, established in 2013, collects frozen tissue and blood samples for various tumors, as well as samples for chronic hepatitis and heart tissue. The biobank strictly adheres to the Human Biobank Management Act, ensuring patient privacy and legal compliance, and providing a valuable resource for medical research.
Since joining the National BioBank Consortium of Taiwan in 2019, Chi Mei Medical Center has complied with the platform's operating standards and processes, enhancing the quality and operation of its biobank. The hospital actively supports external researchers, promoting resource sharing across different biobanks.
President Huey-Kang Sytwu emphasized that the National BioBank Consortium of Taiwan collaborates with 34 institutions in Taiwan, involving 960,000 participants. This initiative integrates and analyzes collected specimens, data, and information, promoting precision medicine. Chi Mei Medical Center's active participation significantly supports this national initiative.
