Event Overview:
On February 15, 2024, President Huey-Kang Sytwu of the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) and CEO Shiu-Feng Huang of NBCT personally visited NTU Hospital to present the Grade A award and gifts in recognition of the hospital's outstanding performance in the National BioBank Consortium of Taiwan Institution Evaluation.
The NTU Hospital Human Biobank initially focused on Taiwan's top ten cancers, prioritizing fresh liquid nitrogen tissue specimens. Over time, it expanded to include a diverse range of specimens such as obstetric pre-eclampsia blood and tissue samples, and frozen tissue specimens for various cancers and tumors. Recent updates to patient consent forms have significantly increased the collection of post-surgery paraffin block specimens for research.
President Huey-Kang Sytwu highlighted that the National BioBank Consortium of Taiwan collaborates with 34 institutions across Taiwan, involving 960,000 participants. This collaboration successfully integrates and analyzes collected specimens, data, and information, combining lifestyle and environmental factors to promote precision medicine. The active participation of NTU Hospital greatly supports this national initiative.
